Isabella County Man Dies in Collision with Semi Truck

A Weidman man is dead and a Remus woman is fighting for her life following a crash between a semi truck and a car in Isabella County.

The crash happened around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of W. Coleman Road and N. Littlefield Road in Gilmore Township.

Police say a semi was traveling eastbound on W. Coleman Road while a car was heading southbound on N. Littlefield Road. The car turned onto Coleman Road and entered the semi-truck's lane.

The driver of the semi-truck told police he tried to avoid the on-coming car by crossing over to the other side of the road.

The car then corrected entered the same lane as the semi. That is when the two collided. 

The driver of the car, a woman from Remus, was seriously injured and was airlifted to a Grand Rapids. The passenger of the car, Aaron Latham from Weidman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi was taken to a local hospital for non life threatening injuries.
