Big Rapids Man Accused of Assault with Firearm

A man accused of pulling a gun on two people is scheduled to be arraigned today.

The incident happened around midnight on Friday in Big Rapids on the two hundred block of Warren Street.

Police say the man took out a gun when another man attempted to get his girlfriend to walk home with him.

Police say the suspect was drunk when he showed the weapon.

"When the suspect was questioned, he freely admitted to brandishing the weapon towards the complainant. The suspect then gave consent to search his residence. Few minutes into that search, he revoked consent which led to officers having to obtain a search warrant," said Sgt. Jim Eddinger.

The Big Rapids man faces charges including assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and carrying a concealed weapon.
