Traverse Cities See Success From Festival Crowds

Posted: Updated:

With the Cherry Festival wrapping up, many local businesses are seeing big improvements to sales and numbers of customers.

With the help of extra workers sought since before the festival started, many shops and eateries are seeing massive profits.

Many businesses say the profits earned during the festival and the summer helps carry them throughout the rest of the year.

The staff at Espresso Bay on Front Street, like everyone else, are seeing the signs of success.

"The numbers are huge compared to the rest of the year," said Heidi Kidd, manager of Espresso Bay. "We're generally at this time of the day, we'd probably have two people on staff. We're at five right now. The numbers are even better this year than even than last year so it's a really good year for us."

Businesses across Traverse City are saying this might be the best Cherry Festival, economically, to date.
