Cherry Royale Parade Marches Again In Traverse City

Posted: Updated:

After runners made their mark in downtown Traverse City, the Cherry Festival did not miss a beat as it began its 88th Cherry Royale Parade.

Around 150 floats and organizations entered into the parade that took Front Street by storm.

The event included the newly-appointed Cherry Queen, Chelsea Lajko, along with Governor Rick Snyder and Lt. Governor Brian Calley.

DTE Energy led the way as this year's Grand Marshal after sponsoring the event for a total of 15 years.

"This year, we've seen a lot of great attendance," said Steve Rawlings, regional manager of DTE Energy. "There's a vibrant quality to this year's parade. We, of course, have got the Blue Angels back which kicked the Festival off very nicely. It's going to be a great day."

Thousands of people lined the streets for the parade and the event's lineup took around two hours from start to finish.
