Two Accused of Child Abuse, Torture in Grand Traverse County

Posted: Updated:

A couple faces serious charges after police say they abused a young child.

It happened in Long Lake Township near Traverse City.

Joseph Franks and Andrea Limon were arrested on Tuesday and are charged with first degree child abuse and torture.

The prosecutor says the investigation started after the sheriff's department responded to a domestic call at their home in April. It was during that response, they noticed a four-year-old girl had injuries.

According to the prosecutor, allegations of severe bruising all over the child's body, hair missing from her scalp, and that she was locked in a room for long periods of time were discovered.

Those allegations led to the charges that could put them away for life.

That little girl was removed from the home back in April and is staying with a family member. She is recovering nicely from her injuries.

9&10's Breelynn Martin and Photojournalist Jeff Blevins spoke to the prosecutor about the case.
