MI Supreme Court: Rulings on Teen Murder Cases to be Upheld

Posted: Updated:

Michigan's Supreme Court says inmates serving no-parole sentences for murders committed when they were teenagers will not get new hearings.

The court's decision today will impact more than 350 inmates in the state.

It comes after a landmark US Supreme Court case in 2012 that said juveniles should not be hit with same mandatory punishment given to adults.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette says families of victims should not be forced to return to court to re-live tragic events.
