There were "wieners and losers" by the dozen at the annual hot dog eating contest in Brooklyn, New York.

The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest is a Fourth of July tradition going back 99 years.

The challenge: who can wolf down the most franks and buns in ten minutes?

The women's race was won by rookie Miki Sudo from Las Vegas. She polished off 34 dogs and upset the two-time champ.

The men's winner was the "bun and only" Joey "Jaws" Chestnut.

He finished 61 franks, and won $10,000 along with the coveted "mustard belt" for the 8th year in a row.

The speed-eating machine who makes upwards of $200,000 a year doing this, also got engaged to his personal chef and trainer before the race.

The competitors ate hundreds of hot dogs and turned Independence Day into Indigestion Day.
