More Than Just a Race for Recovering Evart Woman

Posted: Updated:
Katelyne VanMourik had just graduated high school two months before the accident.

She had plans to run in college and then be a track coach later in life.

But everything was put on hold when she was hit by a car in July of 2012.

After two years of grueling rehabilitation, her she is today back on her feet, back with a racer's bib on and back on the race course.

She ran the Evart July 4th 5K this morning with 400 other people.

She ran the race in an impressive 38 minutes but for her the time is just a benchmark for her next goal, today was about getting out there and doing what she has always loved.

9&10's Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Jeff Blevins were there at the finish line and have more details.
