New Program to Curb School Violence

Posted: Updated:
A new program will soon help Michigan schools curb violence.

Attorney General Bill Schuette is working closely with several schools including Cadillac to start a school safety initiative.

The program called "Ok to Say" is an early warning system for parents, teachers, and students to use if they encounter a dangerous situation.

Schuette hopes the program will break the stigma of being a snitch. "We want to have a new dialogue, and that dialogue is its ok to say, to try to help protect and so the schools are places of learning not violence," says General Schuette.

The Attorney General plans to visit Cadillac and three other cities before school starts to kick off the initiative.
