UPDATE: Art Van Charity Challenge

Posted: Updated:
An update tonight on the Art Van Charity Challenge: the Father Fred Foundation has placed sixth in the contest.

The foundation received a much needed boost to its budget as a result of donations made on the charity's behalf.

The community raised $58,000 for the charity, earning it an additional $25,000 in the Art Van Charity Challenge.

The additional funding will go towards Father Fred's housing assistance program.

The Father Fred Foundation needs your help to win $75,000 in funding. The Traverse City-based charity is competing against 54 other charities in the Art Van Charity Challenge to see who can raise the most donations by Monday.

Father Fred is specifically raising money for its housing assistance program, which helps families in the five-county Grand Traverse region.

"We see 125 to 200 families here every day in four hours and you can't be around that and not be affected and know that the need is very great in this community.  We add a lot of value to the community both towards the donors that want to help out and the families that we help," said Rosemary Hagan, the Executive Director of the Father Fred Foundation.

Whether it's $10 or $500, Father Fred says every donation will help them reach their goal of winning.
