Mt. Pleasant SEPLA Conference Works Toward Safer Schools

Posted: Updated:

The sad reality of school violence is not going away, but schools continue to search for ways to keep their students safe.

School officers, administrators and even fire fighters met Tuesday in Isabella County to talk about student security.

It was part of the 23rd SEPLA conference in Mt. Pleasant.

The three day meeting offers special training to people who try to keep schools free of violence.

It also teaches them about why teenagers think the way they do.

"It's extremely important. I mean, keep our kids safe, number one. That's why we are all here. That's why we all have our jobs that we have, school liaison officers, because we believe in keeping the kids safe in school," said Jeff Soli, President of SEPLA.
