Fluoridation Fight Continues at Commissioner's Meeting

Posted: Updated:
Traverse City has been adding fluoride to the city's drinking water for more than 70 years and now people are stepping up saying this is not ok.

Many local health officials and concerned citizens spoke up at tonight's commissioners meeting about the fluoridation contract.

Those in favor include dentists who say fluoride prevents tooth decay.

Even though the vote hasn't been cast yet, many against the issue want commissioners to pay close attention to what's being put into the water.

The commissioner's decided to allow the fluoridation contract to continue. The Fluoride Free TC Facebook group says this is not the end of this debate because they will now work on a campaign and collect signatures for a petition to be put on the November ballot.
