Teachers Save The Life of Marion Student

Posted: Updated:
Yesterday morning a sophomore had a heart attack at the beginning of gym class at Marion High School.

Two teachers responded, restarting his heart with CPR and a defibrillator and thus saving his life.

Kurt Gillespie and Chad Jenema say the boy collapsed while shooting hoops before class started.

They quickly called for 911 and began doing CPR and grabbed the defibrillator to restart his heart as they waited for an ambulance.

After three tries with the AED, the sophomore began showing a pulse and the two hero teachers realized he would make it.

9&10 News' Eric Lloyd sat down with the two teachers and has more details.
