GM Recalling 512K Chevy Camaro Cars for Ignition Switch Issues

Posted: Updated:

General Motors is adding more cars to it's recall list for ignition switch issues.

GM is now recalling nearly 512,000 Chevrolet Camaro muscle cars made from 2010 to 2014.

The driver's knee can bump the key and knock the switch out of the "run" position, which can trigger an engine stall. In turn, the power steering and brakes go out and drivers could lose control.

GM says it knows of three crashes and four minor injuries related to this problem.

The company says the Camaro switches met its specifications, unlike the switches at the center of a recall of 2.6 million small cars. That problem has caused more than 50 crashes and at least 13 deaths.

GM will replace the Camaro concealed key design with a straight key design.
