Northern Michigan well represented in baseball/softball semifinals

For the second straight season, Glen Lake baseball is going to the semis.  The Lakers beat Norway 5-2 in the Division 4 State Quarterfinals on Tuesday at T.C. West.  Glen Lake moving on to play New Lothrop in the semis on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in East Lansing. 

The Lakers lost to Beal City in the semis last season. 

Mt. Pleasant will also be heading to the semifinals for the first time in three years thanks to a 5-0 win over Gladwin in the Division 2 State Quarterfinals at CMU.  The Oilers will now face Gull Lake on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in East Lansing.  

In softball, Rogers City heading back to the semis for the second straight year after a 4-1 victory over Central Lake.  The Hurons square off against Fowler on Friday at 5 p.m. in East Lansing. 

Chippewa Hills season came to an end in the quarters thanks to a dominating performance by Croswell-Lexington pitcher Megan Guitar who threw a no-hitter.  The Warriors finish the year with a school-record 27 wins and their first ever regional title.

Finally, Vestaburg beat Ubly 4-2 to clinch a berth in the Division 4 semis.  The Wolverines play Kalamazoo Christian in the semis on Friday at 3 p.m. in East Lansing.
