New program offers flexible learning options to earn advanced health care degree
ST. PAUL, Minn., June 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Concordia University, St. Paul is expanding options for nurses seeking an advanced degree by offering an online RN to BS in Nursing degree completion program beginning in August 2014.
This degree program is designed for registered nurses who are interested in career advancement by furthering their knowledge of the nursing profession and the cultural, political, economic, and social issues that influence healthcare delivery and patient care. In today's health care industry, baccalaureate-prepared nurses are more employable than ever. They fill expanding roles that support both changing demographics and an evolving healthcare context. Nurses who hold Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees are better equipped to meet the daily challenges they encounter as nursing professionals.
"Nurses are one of the most valuable resources in the health care industry," said Josie Christian, program coordinator of the RN to BS in Nursing program. "We are pleased to be able to offer Registered Nurses a program that will help them improve their career prospects and contribute to their professional growth. It's designed to be flexible enough to work with their schedule. And because our program is taught by people with real-world experience, it is geared toward helping nurses offer the best care possible to patients in a practical framework."
The online RN to BS in Nursing program at Concordia University provides students with a collaborative learning environment, enhances nurse's current practice, and prepares them for careers in leadership, management, care coordination, case management and public health. After completing the RN to BS in Nursing degree, nursing professionals can have the enhanced communication skills that enable them to more effectively collaborate with their patients, fellow nursing team members, and colleagues to create an environment of relationship-centered care. They will also develop skills that enable them to integrate professional values with moral, ethical and legal aspects of nursing practice in order to facilitate clinical decision-making.
The degree program is offered 100% online, and tuition is $420 per semester credit hour. It is expected to take two years to complete the program.
