Woman Drowns in Oceana County's White River

Posted: Updated:
The Oceana County Sheriff's Office is investigating a weekend drowning of a woman on the White River.

Deputies arrived quickly to the bank of the White River Saturday morning for reports of found personal property in Greenwood Township. When they arrived on scene, police found a woman's pair of shoes and personal property.

A short time later, a passing canoeist reported that they saw a woman in the water.

Deputies rushed to the location of the woman and found that Shelly Dyer of Hesperia had apparently drowned.

The investigation shows that Dyer was seen in the area the night before.

The Oceana County Sheriff's Office believes that alcohol is a factor, but the drowning is still under investigation.
