Two local athletes named to football watch list

The accolades keep piling up for Baldwin two-sport star Brandon Childress, but this time it's his gridiron game getting some publicity.  Childress was named to the MLive 2014 Michigan High School Football Player of the Year Summer Watch List, joining 14 other athletes in the state.

Mt. Pleasant WR Kalebb Perry was the only other local player to make the list.

Childress accumulated over 1,000 yards through the air and on the ground last season while scoring 31 touchdowns.  However he is getting most of his attention for his work on the court and has already received 11 Division 1 scholarship offers to play basketball.  Childress plans on making his college decision this November before the high school basketball season begins.

Perry is also a hoopster but is looking to make a name for himself this fall on the gridiron.  The rising junior caught 23 passes for 550 yards last season for the Oilers and has already received heavy interested from Michigan State.
