UPDATE: CMU Professor Accused of Assaulting Salesmen with Long Gun

Posted: Updated:
Vacuum cleaner salesmen were clearly not welcome at an Isabella County home.

Two of the three salesmen approached a home in Fremont Township Thursday evening.

A man inside came to the door, and held up his finger as if to say wait one minute. He then walked towards the garage.

The salesmen walked back to their van and began driving away. The suspect came out of a pole barn near the home and began firing shots with a long gun. He continued to point the gun at the van until the men left.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police arrested Robert Lee for felonious assault and carrying a firearm with unlawful intent. Lee is a professor at Central Michigan University and is currently on leave while this case plays out.

Lee was released from Isabella County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Police believe alcohol is a factor.
