Four Accused of Stealing Metal in GT County

Posted: Updated:

Four Kalkaska County women are in jail for stealing copper and brass fittings from several local hardware stores to sell for scrap metal.

Ashli Green, Dianna Comai, Destiny May and Bethany Thompson each face up to five years in prison for organized retail fraud.

Police say the four stole the metals from Traverse City area stores in Grand Traverse County.

Their goal was to sell the stolen items for gas money to find jobs.

More than $8,000 worth of metals were stolen in March and April.
