Gree Dehumidifier Recall Renewed

Posted: Updated:
If you use a dehumidifier to try and keep your Michigan basement dry, pay close attention to this recall.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is renewing a recall for 2 million of the appliances.

The dehumidifiers are made by Gree Electric Appliances of China.

They were initially recalled back in September 2013 because they can overheat and catch fire.

But the CPSC says people didn't heed the warning and the reported incidents of overheating dehumidifiers had jumped 400% since then.

The recall involves 20, 25, 30, 40, 45, 50, 65 and 70-pint dehumidifiers with brand names Danby, De’Longhi, Fedders, Fellini, Frigidaire, GE, Gree, Kenmore, Norpole, Premiere, Seabreeze, SoleusAir and SuperClima sold between January 2005 and August 2013.

Owners should contact Gree for a refund toll-free at 866-853-2802 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday or online here.
