Man Injured in Petoskey Crash with MSP Trooper

Posted: Updated:

Police believe alcohol was a factor in a crash that injured a driver and a Michigan State Trooper in Emmet County last weekend.

Petoskey Public Safety says the crash happened in the construction zone on W. Mitchell Street at Ingalls.

Police say a man was struck by the trooper when he did not follow signs that prohibit crossing W. Mitchell St. at Ingalls and also failed to yield for the trooper. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.

Police say the trooper was not at fault.

The trooper and the three people in the other car were injured. The driver of the at-fault vehicle was taken to the hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.  The trooper was treated for minor injuries and released.

The investigation is on-going.
