Kalkaska County Road 612 Closed For Small Sink Hole

Posted: Updated:
Kalkaska County Road Commission has closed County Road 612 east of Kalkaska for a small sink hole.

The road is closed from Rosenberg Road to Crawford Lake Road.

The sinkhole is about 4 to 6 feet in diameter and 18 to 24 inches deep caused form a culvert failure.

The hole is located in the middle of the west bound lane on CR 612.

The road commission is ready to fix it immediately, but they have to wait until the Department of Environmental Quality gives them direction as to what size culvert they need to replace the broken one. Once they know the size they have to order it.

Manager John Rogers says they'll be lucky to replace it this week, but it's looking more like next week.

The road will remain closed until the new culvert is installed.
