Man Killed After Chase and Officer-Involved Shooting in Ionia County

UPDATE: Three State Troopers and a deputy are on paid leave while a deadly officer-involved shooting is investigated. On Sunday, Steven Goble led officers on a chase through Ionia and Montcalm Counties. Officers dropped stop sticks, but Goble got out and ran. He fired shots at officers.. Then died at the scene. Initially it was not clear if officers had shot Goble or he shot himself. But new reports now show officers did shoot him. The four officers will remain on leave while a prosecutor determines if they acted properly.

UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as 31 year old Steven Gobles of Lake Odessa.
What started as a domestic violence investigation turned into a police chase and officer-involved shooting in Ionia County.

Michigan State Police from Lakeview and Rockford, along with deputies from Ionia County, were looking for a man involved in a domestic violence incident on Sunday.

 When t
hey spotted the man's car, the suspect took off, leading them on a chase.

Troopers finally stopped the car with stop sticks, but he got out and took off running into a field.
The suspect then used a shotgun to shoot at officers.

They say the man died at the scene.

It's not yet clear if he was killed by officers or he shot himself.

No officers were hurt.

The incident remains under investigation.
