Schauer Running For Michigan Governor

Posted: Updated:

Former Democratic Congressman Mark Schauer turned in 27,000 signatures in his official bid to run for governor.

Supporters joined Schauer today at the Secretary of State office in Lansing.

He's the only Democrat expected to file for the August primary.

Today, he spoke out about recent polls.

"He's signed into law many things that have worked against good jobs and good wages. He opposed raising the minimum wage, he signed into law right to work for less, that's hurt families. He's attacked women, he's attacked the gay and lesbian community. That's not our Michigan and that's why I'm confident that people are ready for change," said Schauer.

Governor Rick Snyder turned in his signatures Thursday.
Michigan's gubernatorial election is November 4th.
