Gov. Snyder Declares State Of Disaster For Newaygo, Osceola Counties

Posted: Updated:

Governor Snyder has declared a state of disaster for Newaygo and Osceola counties to help fund flood recovery.

"Our state and local emergency response and volunteer services have been the backbone for responding to this incident," Snyder said. "I commend them for their efforts in protecting the public health and safety of our citizens during the severe weather and flooding."

By declaring a state of disaster, Michigan will make all state resources available to help with local response and recovery efforts.

Newaygo County and Osceola County communities have been severely impacted by flooding and wind damage. Both these counties declared a local state of emergency on April 14.
