Feedback at 5:00: Should College Football Players Be Able To Unionize?

Posted: Updated:

In a history making move for college sports, the National Labor Relations Board in Chicago ruled football players at Northwestern University are employees and can unionize.

The players say they want better medical coverage, including testing for concussions.

Collegiate sports are a multi-billion dollar industry in the United States.

Northwestern's football program brings in $29 million alone.

Players are also asking for four year scholarships and the possibility of being paid.

The private university says it will appeal the ruling, saying the players are students and not employees.

The NCAA says it's "disappointed" with the ruling.

Do you think players should be able to unionize? Why or why not?
