MT. PLEASANT -- Central Michigan junior guard Crystal Bradford will be unable to compete in the Mid-American Conference Tournament after suffering a knee injury during practice Tuesday afternoon, head coach Sue Guevara announced.

"This is a tough, tough loss for our program," Guevara said. "I feel horrible that this happened to someone that has worked as hard as Crystal has all season.

"I've said all season that our greatest strength is depth as this team is not made up of one player. Every individual on our team will need to step up and come together as we continue to prepare for the MAC Tournament."

Bradford was named the MAC Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and first team All-MAC this week. She is third in the MAC in scoring at 20.3 points per game, first in rebounding (13.3), first in steals (2.7), third in assists (5.5) and third in blocks (1.5).

The Chippewas are the reigning MAC Tournament champions and enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed. CMU finished the regular season 20-10 overall and 16-2 in league play, claiming its first MAC West title in program history.

CMU received a triple bye in the MAC Tournament to thesemifinals and will open postseason play Friday afternoon.
