Boerner Sentenced After Admitting To Manslaughter, Child Abuse

Posted: Updated:

An Oscoda County man who killed his child has been sentenced for the crime.

Court documents show the 3-month-old from Mio was rushed to the hospital last October, struggling to breathe.

Brantley died three days later at the University of Michigan Children's Hospital.

On Monday, a judge sentenced Corey Boerner to 6 to 15 years in prison.

He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and second degree child abuse.

Court documents from the case say hospital staff determined Brantley had brain injuries consistent with child abuse, and that he was healing from several rib fractures when he died.
