Emmet County Murder Investigation: Family and Friends Looking for Answers

Posted: Updated:

Lingering questions tonight after police found an Emmet County man dead in his home.

Police are now calling it a murder investigation, but friends and family of the man who died don't have many more details from police on what may have happened.

Deputies say they got a call about a break-in Thursday morning. When they showed up, they found Trenton Mallory's body in his home on Pleasantview Road in Center Township. Investigators described the house as ransacked. The sheriff says another person who lives with Trent called police because of a breaking and entering situation.

Police were on scene collecting evidence late into the night. They were looking at tire marks in the snow, and anything else that may lead them to the killer.

Police still are not releasing many more details. If you have any information about the death of Trent Mallory, the Emmet County Sheriff's Office would like to hear from you.

9&10's Katie Boomgaard and photojournalist Erin Malone talked with police and friends of the victim about the investigation in tonight's top story.
