New Details in Cadillac Toddler Death Case

Posted: Updated:

New details in the case against a man accused of murdering a 19-month-old toddler in Cadillac.

The Wexford County Prosecutor shared more information on the case, which took over a year to investigate.

David Ferris II turned himself in to police in Cadillac on Thursday. He's now facing murder charges for the death of Kalla Fisher.

Police say Ferris was the boyfriend of Kalla's mother at the time, they married 12 days after the child died.

An autopsy on the girl's body revealed she was murdered from suspected blunt force trauma to the head.

According to Prosecutor Tony Badovinac, he did not want to rush into this criminal investigation considering its seriousness. In addition, he wanted to make sure they had some pretty good proofs and looked at everything before charges were issued.

The prosecutor says Jesse Fisher, Kalla's mother, could potentially face charges. We tried to reach out to her, but she had no comment.

Ferris is being held at the Wexford County Jail.

9&10's Breelynn Martin and Photojournalist Jeff Blakeman spoke with the prosecutor.
