MARQUETTE - Sault Ste Marie hockey will make it back-to-back trips to Compuware Arena in Plymouth thanks to a 2-1 win over Houghton.

The Blue Devils got on the board first in the Division 3 State Quarterfinal when Abby Roque redirected a shot into the net.

The Gremlins responded late in the 3rd period when Ray Brice scored on a breakaway.

However, Sault Ste Marie avoided overtime by 27 seconds when Blake Mastaw scored the game-winner.

The Blue Devils advance to the Division 3 State Semifinal Friday at 11am.  They will face off against Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central.

The Blue Devils made it out of the State Semifinal round last year but lost in the State Final to Cranbrook-Kingswood 4-2.
