LSSU falls to Malone in GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinal

SAULT STE MARIE - A great regular season for Lake Superior State vanished in the opening round of GLIAC Tournament play Wednesday night.  The top-seeded Lakers were eliminated by Malone 73-65.

LSSU turned a 20-point deficit down to five in the second-half.  Derek Billing led the Lakers with 31 points.

Lake Superior no longer has a chance at an automatic bid into the Division II NCAA Tournament.  However, they may have had a good enough regular season to earn an at-large bid.

The tournament pairings will be announced 10:30pm Sunday night.
