New Bills Look to Crack Down on Meth Ingredients

One bill will create a registry of known meth users that would require them to get a prescription for certain cold medicines.

The other would bring charges against anybody who buys an ingredient for the sole purpose of making meth.

Right now, anybody looking for a medicine containing pseudoephedrine has to use a photo ID to purchase so a database can track who buys what and how much.

Because of the people who abuse the cold medicines for making meth, pharmacies must keep the pills behind the counter.

9&10 News' Eric Lloyd spoke to a pharmacist on the trouble of hiding the cold medicine from patients and has more details.
