Emmet Co. Woman Sentenced to 18-35 Years After Shooting Death

Posted: Updated:

An Emmet County woman will spend 18-35 years in prison after her husband was shot and killed.

Carol Kopenkoskey's was sentenced this morning in court in Petoskey.

Lyle Kopenkoskey's body was found in October 2012, not far from his truck in Resort Township. His family reported him missing after he didn't show up at work or come back home.

Carol Kopenkoskey pleaded guilty in January to second-degree murder. That means she could get up to life in prison, but would be eligible for parole.

John Ernst was arraigned on charges that he helped carry out the crime.

Investigators say he helped get rid of the gun used in the shooting.
