Cold Weather Keeping Plumbers Busy

Posted: Updated:

All the cold weather and snow is creating plumbing problems for homeowners and businesses, but it's keeping plumbing companies hard at work.

Companies like Maveric Mechanical & Plumbing out of Cadillac have been working around the clock to keep up with calls.

One of the jobs they worked on Thursday was at the Post Office in Marion in Osceola County where they had a frozen water main.

Most of the calls they receive are for frozen water and drain lines, and burst pipes due to the cold.

The cause is usually in the pipes. A belly in the pipe or a back pitched pipe is where water can set in and freeze.

To try and avoid a problem, Maveric recommends making sure everywhere is heated, especially crawl spaces, where pipes are known to freeze.

9&10's Breelynn Martin and Photojournalist Tony Zyber spoke with Maveric Mechanical & Plumbing.
