Feedback at 5:00: Elementary School Lunches Tossed In Garbage

Posted: Updated:

A group of parents in Salt Lake City say their elementary students had their school lunches tossed in the trash because of outstanding balances on their accounts.

It happened Tuesday after the Salt Lake City District figured out up to 40 students owed money for their lunches.

Cafeteria workers were not able to see who was in debt until the lunches were distributed.

A district spokesman said the workers threw the lunches away because they couldn't be served to another student.

Those who had their lunches taken were given fruit and milk.

What do you think of the districts decision?

It's tonight's Feedback at 5:00.
