Presque Isle Police Investigating Possible Dog Neglect Case

Posted: Updated:
9&10 News has uncovered more details into a case of possible animal neglect in Presque Isle County.

The sheriff's department says 30 or more dogs were seized from a home in Hawks Thursday.

Some of the animals at the home had already died, including 10 newly born puppies.

Deputies say there was some food, but it wasn't being given to the animals.

They say the woman who owns the home had hired a caretaker when she was out of town, and it appears the caretaker had not been coming to care for the animals.

The dogs are kept in building outside the home that did have a heater, but the fuel had run out.

Investigators suspect the dogs had been alone for 8 or 9 days.

We are working to bring you continuing coverage on this case tonight on 9&10 News at 11:00.
