Michigan Taxpayers Could See Income Tax Cuts

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan taxpayers could see a gradual cut to their income tax.

Wednesday, the Senate Finance Committee voted to reduce the tax from 4.25% to 3.9% within three years.

The vote is the first since lawmakers found out about the estimated $1 billion budget surplus.

Governor Rick Snyder has not made any promises about a permanent income tax reduction.

He is expected to outline his own proposal next week.
