Feedback at 5:00: Would You Volunteer To Get The Flu Virus?

Posted: Updated:

According to the Centers for Disease Control, cases of the flu continue to be widespread around much of the nation, including Michigan.

But now, government scientists are paying volunteers up to $3,000 to deliberately get the virus.

Scientists from the National Institute of Health will infect people by squirting the live virus into noses.

They hope the move will help develop better flu vaccines.

Volunteers need to be healthy, and no older than 50.

They are then quarantines for at least 9 days, and are not released until no longer contagious.

Would you sign up for the program? Why or why not?

It's tonight's Feedback at 5:00.
