Trail Users Gather For First Michigan Trail Summit

Posted: Updated:

It's been 4 years coming.

Today, the DNR was finally able to gather trail users from across the state to hear their plans for the state's hundreds of miles of trails.

In 2010, Michigan legislators asked the DNR to identify issues with state trail ways, and some solutions.

Today, both state and local agencies gathered at the Grand Traverse Resort to hear the results.

TART Trails is working on three projects focused on expansion, the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail, Buffalo Ridge and Boardman Lake trails will all see miles added this summer.

Efforts that also fit with the state's implementation plan.

9&10's Marisa McKay and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson were at the inaugural State Trail Summit and learned what this means for our local trail ways.
