Today a free event in Traverse City was held to celebrate the life and teachings of Doctor Martin Luther King, Junior.
A free performance titled Freedom Sounds was put on at the State Theatre.
The Human Rights Commission got together with Building Bridges with Music to organize the event that featured a folk singer and historian Ray Kamalay.
Kamalay discussed how music during the Civil Rights Movement reflected what was going on in society at that time.
Freedom Sounds was a part of the Embrace The Dream Campaign lasting from now until March in Traverse City.
