Grant Allows CMU To Purchase Custom-Built Mobile Medical Vehicle

Posted: Updated:

Central Michigan University found a new way to help its students enjoy hands-on learning, and help the surrounding community.

The Health Professions College on CMU's Mt. Pleasant Campus just bought a mobile medical RV.

The state-of-the-art vehicle is possible thanks to a $500,000r grant from the Herbert H and Grace A Dow Foundation.

Students and instructors will use the RV to bring care to under-served rural areas in Michigan.

It will be an extension of the University's health center, that already serves more than 8,000 patients a year.

The custom-built RV will be just less than 40 feet long, and have exam tables, sinks, and even a soundproof booth for hearing testing.
