CMU Celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. All Week Long

Posted: Updated:

Many schools and government offices shut down today to recognize Martin Luther King Junior Day.

But students at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant are taking a whole week to recognize the equal rights pioneer.

This afternoon, dozens of students participated in the MLK Peace March and Walk.

They walked across campus, and into downtown Mount Pleasant where the event ended with a candlelight vigil.

Students involved in the march say it is important to honor King's memory.

Tuesday evening, a member of the Little Rock Nine will be on campus to talk about her experiences with the Civil Rights Movement.

We have a link to other MLK-related events at CMU posted on the left.
