Posted: Updated:

A man is dead after losing control of a snowmobile and crashing on a Clam Lake Township trail.

It happened Saturday just before 3:30 a.m. on the Rails for Trails snowmobile trail located near East 50 Road and South 39 Road.

Wexford County deputies say Jeffery Wright of Vicksburg driving the snowmobile lost control, leaving the trail and striking trees on his way down an embankment.

He was taken to Mercy Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Deputies believe alcohol played a role in the crash.
