Educators Excited Governor Pledging More Money to Early Childhood Education

Posted: Updated:

Governor Snyder pledged $65 million to early childhood education during his State of the State address and that has educators excited.

The money will impact the state's Great State Readiness Program, which is primarily income based.

9&10 News spoke with the Mid Michigan Community Action Agency, who holds GSRP classes in their building.

The director of MMCAA, Jill Sutton, says it's great to see legislators as well as the Governor seeing the importance of early childhood education. She says the money will go to good use, helping to serve more students, make curriculum more comprehensive, and assist with transportation needs.

According to the Mecosta-Osceola ISD, they're also excited about more money coming to the program, but are still unsure how that money will be used within GSRP.

9&10's Breelynn Martin and Photojournalist Tony Zyber spoke with both of them about the increase in funding.
