Michigan DNR Looking Into Montmorency Co. Elk Poaching

DNR conservation officers are looking into an elk poaching incident.

Officials say on Saturday they found the body of large bull elk just north of Atlanta in Montmorency County.

Parts had been removed from the animal.

Elk poaching carries fines of up to $2,500, restitution to the state of up to $1,500, loss of the firearm used in the incident and loss of hunting privileges for up to three years.
