Working in the Frigid Temps

Posted: Updated:

The cold weather has most of us staying inside to stay warm, but others have to brave the cold everyday when they go to work.

Peninsula Construction is working on an addition to a hangar at Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City.

The project supervisor says when it gets really cold they make sure everyone is wearing lots of layers and make sure they take breaks when they get too cold. Otherwise, they try to push through whatever mother nature throws at them.

Brickyard Towing also doesn't stop working when it gets super cold outside. They work 365 days a year, 7 days a week and 24 hours a day to provide roadside assistance and towing.

The owner says the cold has slowed down the work flow a bit, but nothing major.

9&10's Breelynn Martin and Photojournalist Jacob Johnson spoke with both companies about how the cold impacts business.
