When we think New Year's Ever, typically Dick Clark and Times Square come to mind.

But many of the area's youngsters aren't up late enough to ring in the year 2014 with the rest of us, so the Great Lakes Children's Museum hosted an afternoon party that celebrated the New Year at more age appropriate times.

The Museum Educator, Anne Drake, says it's always 12 o'clock somewhere, so the celebrations started at noon.

Children and their families were invited to make noise makers and hats, and watch a smaller scale ball drop this afternoon.

This is the fifth year the museum has tried to provide an NYE bash on a smaller scale.

Not only does it provide an atmosphere for kids to feel involved, but the party helps them understand what the New Year's Eve holiday is all about!
