Ring In The New Year At TC's CherryT Ball Drop

Posted: Updated:

For the 5th year, thousands of people will gather in downtown Traverse City for the CherryT Ball Drop.

The CherryT Ball Drop is a benefit for local charities. Tonight's donations are going to support Father Fred Foundation and other charities.

Join the fun in downtown Traverse City at the intersection of Cass and Front streets.

Because this is a fundraiser, a suggested admission to the ball drop is $3 or 3 non-perishable food items.

Crews have been working to get ready for the big night.

Roads will begin to close at 4:00 PM. Cass Street will be closed between the Grandview Parkway and State Street. Also Front Street from Park St. to Union St. will be closed. The Clinch Park Marina public parking area will be closed as well.

The Traverse City BATA system is offering free shuttle service to parking lots. The Larry C Hardy Deck is between Front St and State St, east of Park St and the Old Towne Parking Deck is between 7th St and 8th St, west of Cass. Both decks will stay open past midnight to accommodate drivers.

If you park north of Front Street, you will need to walk West to Union Street or East to Park Street to access the Front Street celebration.

If you have any questions about the event, follow the link posted on the left.

9&10's Vanessa Fayz and photojournalists Jared Barraco and Jeff Blakeman will be at the CherryT Ball Drop tonight.
